Prof Dennis Ityavyar, a former Benue State Education Commissioner, has dragged Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, to court for ₦1 billion, accusing him of defamation.
The lawsuit, which also names the governor, the state government, and the Attorney General, centres on comments Kula made during a July 17 press briefing, alleging Ityavyar left behind a collapsed School of Nursing, scholarship fraud and illegal levies.
Ityavyar says the claims are false, malicious and have damaged his reputation, causing emotional distress and public ridicule. He wants a public retraction, a written apology, and compensation totalling ₦1,005,000,000, including legal fees.
