Chief Dare Olatunde Maiyegun, who helped establish the African Democratic Congress in Kogi State, says Rep. Leke Abejide is no “landlord” of the party — because he wasn’t even around when it was formed.
Maiyegun told reporters that Abejide “joined after the groundwork was done” and only met the party’s national chairman through his (Maiyegun’s) introduction.
While acknowledging Abejide’s financial contributions to his own campaigns, Maiyegun stressed this “doesn’t make you the owner of a political party.”
He also dismissed Abejide’s third-term bid for the House of Representatives, saying a rotational agreement in Yagba Federal Constituency rules it out.
The pioneer secretary accused the MP of breaking a 2023 pact with Mopamuro leaders and of hypocrisy for planning to back another party’s candidate despite railing against anti-party activity.
