Eight people, including a mother and four of her children, have died in a severe flood that swept through Kpoghirikpo in Afikpo LGA, Ebonyi State, after heavy rainfall.
The deluge destroyed over 800 farms and displaced roughly 3,000 households. Four children were rescued alive, but several people remain missing.
State officials say relief materials are on the way and are urging residents in flood-prone areas to relocate to safer government shelters as the rains continue.
