The Ministry of Health has denied claims circulating in a viral video that the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali-Pate, announced the discovery of a drug capable of curing diabetes, which would be distributed to households nationwide at no cost. The ministry described the content as false, misleading, and deliberately manipulated to misinform the public.
The ministry stated that the video in question contained altered footage from a television news broadcast and digitally doctored clips of the minister’s appearances stressing that no such drug had been announced or approved, and that the claims did not represent any official policy or programme of the Federal Government.
The ministry said it is working with NAFDAC, the Nigerian Police Force, and the National Broadcasting Commission to trace the source of the misinformation and take action. Nigerians were urged to rely on credible, verified sources for health information, as the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to genuine healthcare solutions for the nation’s well-being.
